Hints and hacks that will help you get more out of your holiday adventures.
Hi, I’m David Morris and I’m not sure whether the road trip dreamer is me or you. Probably both of us. I love exploring the world by road. To me, there is no better way of getting the most from an adventure than doing it by car.
If what you want is fluffy, frilly, gushy descriptions of the landscape, the people, the food, then maybe I’m not your sort of correspondent.
I’m more into passing on the practical lessons I and others have learned the hard way – by seeing it and doing it – so that you can see more, do more, enjoy more and pay less than otherwise.
And if I ever post a piece with selfies of me in front of some important place, of me having a small libation in a local bar, if me oohing and aahing over a meal . . . then take me outside and shoot me. This isn’t about me, it’s about you and helping you on your travels.
And one more thing. I don’t accept freebies, free trips, sponsored visits or any other bribes or backhanders so what you will get is the unvarnished, un-spun truth. For the moment there are no ads either. Some blogs are so cluttered with advertising that it’s hard to pick your way through the story they trying to tell.
So how do I make this pay? I don’t. It is essentially a labour of love, but it is also intended to encourage you to have a look at my main website greatbritishroadtrips.co.uk
I also published another travel site, visitnz.co.nz, several years ago – long before there were things like travel blogs. It’s now very dated (I wouldn’t trust the restaurant or accommodation recommendations if I were you) but the rest of it is still probably 95% accurate. This year I’m starting the long process of updating it.
I keep you posted on that.
